What is a locked phone?
A locked cell phone is tied to a specific carrier. When you buy a new cell phone under contract, it will most likely be locked. To bring your cell phone over to Republic (or any other provider), you’ll need to first get it unlocked.
How to unlock your phone?
Simply call your current wireless provider to ask for a “network unlock,” as different carriers may have different requirements. A call or visit to your current provider’s website can also help explain their rules and get the unlocking process going.
